Minimal Collective was a project to create a platform for likeminded people to come to for inspiration, tailored journal content and clothing; designed and made in Great Britain.
The brand identity was initially established by Samuel Powell, my business partner. It is a mark made of two flags representing the partnership between the two of us. Whilst working on the brand I have inkept fully within assumed brand guidelines, this was possible as our styles are so similar. The aim of the brand is to bring the idea of a lifestyle brand to the clothing market.
I made my first input when designing the vector prints. The North Flag tee was designed to introduce the Minimal brand to our audience. It brings in ideas of Nordic and Scandavian design, and unifies it with our brandmark. We screen-printed this onto Continental T-Shirts by hand and commissioned a photo shoot with model Tom Newell and photographer Alex Duffill.
This was my major undertaking in the Minimal Collective project. I had the task of designing and developing both an e-commerce site and blogging platform for the brand. I developed this using the WordPress framework. I heavily considered the theory of responsive design, with use of columns and modules that could be rescaled easily for mobile. Again, this is designed in a minimal fashion to represent the brand values.
